McCOMMAS BLUFF LANDFILL
About
The Dallas Clean Energy McCommas Bluff Landfill located in the City of Dallas is the third largest production landfill in the USA.
Pyro Green-Gas Inc. provided the primary landfill gas desulfurization system using its first generation iron chelate process which reduces the hydrogen sulfide in the landfill gas to 50ppmv. Pyro Green-Gas also provided the desulfurized landfill gas upgrading system for phase two of the gas plant, which system has a capacity of 5.5 million SCFD and includes a non-methane organic compounds (NMOC) and siloxanes removal system, followed by a carbon dioxide (CO2) removal unit. The NMOC/Siloxanes removal process uses a continuously regenerative thermal swing adsorption (TSA) system, using purge gas from the CO2 separation system as regenerative gas.
The CO2 separation system uses a vacuum pressure swing adsorption (VPSA) process where the carbon dioxide is adsorbed under pressure into a molecular sieve (media), which media is then regenerated under vacuum.
The renewable natural gas (RNG) produced has consistently been of the required quality for injection into the pipeline network.
